Three Summers of Junior Golf Camp: Ella-Louise’s Journey

A mother’s perspective, shared by Evita.

When Evita first searched for a junior golf camp in 2024, her daughter Ella-Louise was relatively new to competitive golf. That search brought them to RV Golf Schools and the first of three consecutive summers at camp.

Today, Ella-Louise is a single-figure handicap golfer. Her story reflects her own dedication and the support she receives throughout the year. Here, Evita shares the part she feels camp has played, alongside the friendships, confidence and independence that have made the experience special.

2024: learning on the course in St Andrews

St Andrews, 2024 — the first of Ella-Louise’s three summers with RV Golf Schools.

Ella-Louise’s first RVGS camp took place in St Andrews. For Evita, what stood out was the connection between practice and playing: morning training followed by afternoon golf, then the opportunity to reflect and apply that learning again.

“It wasn’t just about hitting golf balls or receiving technical instructions. It was about learning how to play golf, how to think on the course and how to make better decisions.”

Evita remembers being struck by the progress she saw during that first week. Before the family had even arrived home, they had decided Ella-Louise would return the following summer — this time for two weeks.

2025: building understanding and confidence

Edinburgh, 2025 — returning for two weeks of coaching and golf.

In 2025, Ella-Louise joined the Edinburgh camp for two weeks. Evita describes the combination of training, on-course coaching and different golf courses as another important step in her daughter’s development.

“What makes these camps so special, in my opinion, is that the children don’t just practise golf — they learn to become better golfers.”

She highlights a deeper understanding of the game, learning to analyse performance and gaining confidence in decisions on the course. These were qualities Ella-Louise could continue developing beyond her time at camp.

2026: returning as a single-figure handicap golfer

London, 2026 — Ella-Louise’s third consecutive summer at camp.

For her third consecutive summer, Ella-Louise attended the London camp. She returned as a more experienced golfer, with a single-figure handicap and results in national and international junior competitions.

Evita is clear that this progress comes from dedication throughout the year:

“Of course, that progress is the result of many hours of training, dedication and hard work throughout the year. But I genuinely believe that the RV Golf Schools camps have played a valuable part in her development.”

She particularly values the on-course coaching, individual feedback and opportunity to learn in a different environment, which she feels have helped Ella-Louise become a more confident and thoughtful player.

Friendship, independence and looking forward to summer

Golf is only part of the reason Ella-Louise looks forward to returning. Meeting young people from different countries, sharing a passion for the game and spending time with friends are central to the experience.

For Evita, becoming more independent and using English every day are valuable parts of camp life too.

“As a parent, there is something wonderful about seeing your child so excited about an experience that combines her greatest passion with personal growth, friendship and independence.”

Looking ahead
