Camp Experiences & Bookings

  • RV Golf Schools offers four golf experiences for 2027, designed to suit different ages, abilities and playing experience.

    Development (ages 7–11) — Younger golfers building skills, confidence and enjoyment. No handicap or previous competitive experience is required.

    Ultimate (ages 10–18) — Professional coaching and a varied programme of Scottish golf for juniors developing their game. No official handicap is required.

    Hidden Gems (ages 12–18) — Established 18-hole golfers with an official handicap, exploring Scotland’s lesser-known courses.

    Signature (ages 14–18) — Experienced 18-hole golfers with a handicap of 15 or better, enjoying some of Scotland’s most highly regarded courses.

  • Our 2027 camps cater for junior golfers aged 7–18, with these age guides for each experience:

    • Development: 7–11 years

    • Ultimate: 10–18 years

    • Hidden Gems: 12–18 years

    • Signature: 14–18 years

    Age is a starting point. Playing ability, experience and confidence also matter, particularly where the age ranges overlap. See our age and ability guidance for help choosing.

    If your child falls outside the suggested age range for an experience they are interested in, please get in touch. We’ll discuss their playing ability and experience to see whether a suitable place may be available.

  • Not all RV Golf Schools experiences require an official golf handicap.

    Development and Ultimate: No handicap required. These experiences welcome golfers of different abilities, including those still developing their skills and confidence.

    Hidden Gems: A golf handicap is required, and golfers should be comfortable playing full 18-hole rounds.

    Signature: Golfers must have a handicap of 15 or better and be experienced playing full 18-hole rounds.

    Golf clubs and trolleys are also available to rent.

  • Absolutely! Our 2027 summer programme runs across four weeks, from 4–31 July, and golfers are welcome to attend multiple weeks.

    Each week offers different opportunities to develop their golf, play fantastic courses and make new friends.

    Attending more than one week also allows golfers to build on their coaching, develop greater independence and enjoy more of Scotland's wonderful golf courses.

    You can choose the weeks that best suit your summer plans.

  • Yes! One of the exciting features of our 2027 programme is the flexibility to choose different golf experiences across multiple weeks.

    For example, a golfer might enjoy Hidden Gems in Week 1 before moving to Signature in Week 2, provided they meet the age and handicap requirements.

    This allows golfers to experience different courses and challenges while continuing to develop their game.

    Our team can help you select the best combination based on your child's ability, interests and objectives.

  • Our optional High Performance Coaching upgrade is available for golfers attending the Ultimate, Hidden Gems and Signature experiences.

    It adds individual analysis, performance technology and specialist coaching alongside the professional group coaching already included in every camp.

    The upgrade is designed for golfers who want more personalised support to understand their game, develop their skills and build confidence on the course.

  • For 2027, we’re limiting each golf experience to a maximum of eight golfers per week.

    We believe smaller groups create a better learning environment, allowing our coaches to provide more individual attention while ensuring every golfer feels included.

    This approach also helps golfers develop friendships, build confidence and enjoy a more personal camp experience.

    With just eight places available per experience each week, we recommend booking early to secure your preferred week and experience.

  • Bookings for our 2027 summer camps are now open through our online booking system.

    Select your preferred camp week or weeks, golf experience, residential or non-residential option and any available extras. Week 2 — The Open Week (10–17 July 2027) — is residential only.

    If you would like help choosing the right camp or have any questions before booking, please contact our team.

  • We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred week and golf experience.

    For 2027, places are limited to eight golfers per experience, per week, and some experiences may fill more quickly than others.

    Bookings will be subject to availability, and any final booking deadlines will be communicated through our booking system.

    If you're planning to attend, particularly during The Open Week, we recommend registering your interest early.

  • We understand that family plans can sometimes change.

    Our cancellation and refund arrangements will be outlined in the 2027 booking terms and conditions before you confirm your booking.

Daily Camp Life

  • Every day at RV Golf Schools combines professional coaching, fantastic golf courses and opportunities to make new friends.

    For residential golfers, the day begins with breakfast. Golfers then join professional coaching and practice sessions tailored to their age, ability and chosen camp experience.

    After lunch, golfers head out onto the course to put their coaching into practice. The golf programme is appropriate to each experience, with courses suited to younger Development golfers and 18-hole golf for the older experiences.

    Following golf, residential campers return to their accommodation for dinner, relaxation and time to socialise. Organised evening activities provide opportunities to have fun, build friendships and enjoy the wider camp experience.

    Non-residential golfers join the same coaching and on-course programme, with lunch included. Breakfast and dinner are not included.

    Daily programmes vary depending on the camp experience, golf courses and planned activities. Explore our 2027 Camp Schedules for the planned programme. Courses and schedules remain subject to final confirmation.

  • Our residential camps provide a complete golf experience, allowing junior golfers to enjoy their time in Scotland while developing their independence, building confidence and making new friends.

    Alongside the golf programme, residential golfers benefit from:

    • Supervision and support from the experienced RVGS team.

    • Organised evening activities, offering a variety of fun activities and social experiences away from the golf course.

    • Time to relax and socialise with fellow golfers after a busy day of golf.

    • A welcoming and supportive environment where friendships, confidence and independence can develop.

    Our team is available to support golfers throughout their stay, helping them feel comfortable, settled and part of the RVGS community.

    We believe the experiences away from the golf course are just as important as the golf itself, creating lasting friendships and memories that extend well beyond the summer.

    Full details of the accommodation, meals and residential arrangements for each 2027 camp will be provided before booking.

  • Yes! We offer a limited number of non-residential places during our St Andrews weeks — Weeks 1, 3 and 4 — for families who live locally or are visiting Scotland and would prefer their child to stay with them.

    However, we strongly encourage golfers to stay residential wherever possible. An important part of the RVGS experience is the friendships that develop away from the golf course. Golfers quickly form friendships, bond as a group and enjoy spending time together during meals, evening activities and downtime. These shared experiences are often just as memorable as the golf itself.

    We also understand that families may wish to spend some time together during the camp. If you're staying nearby and would like to take your child out for dinner one evening, we're happy to discuss arrangements with you.

    Non-residential golfers participate in the same coaching and on-course golf programme as residential golfers, with lunch included. Breakfast and dinner are not included. Parents are responsible for arranging their child's accommodation and daily transport to and from the designated meeting point.

    Week 2 — The Open Week (10–17 July 2027) — is residential only. Non-residential places are not available during this week.

    Non-residential options for the St Andrews weeks can be selected during the booking process, subject to availability.

  • Although golf is at the heart of everything we do, we believe the experiences away from the course are equally important.

    Our residential golfers have opportunities to spend time together, relax after a busy day and enjoy the social side of camp life.

    Depending on the programme and location, this may include informal games, group activities and opportunities to explore the local area.

    These shared experiences help golfers develop friendships, confidence and independence while enjoying time with other young people who share their passion for golf.

    Our aim is to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment where every golfer feels part of the RVGS community.

  • Golfers should bring their own golf equipment, suitable golf clothing and personal belongings to ensure they're comfortable both on and off the golf course.

    We recommend packing the following:

    • Golf equipment: Golf clubs, golf shoes, golf balls, tees and a golf glove.

    • Golf clothing: Suitable golf clothing for several days of play, including waterproofs and warm layers for Scotland's changeable weather.

    • Casual clothing: Comfortable clothes and footwear for relaxing and spending time with friends.

    • Sports kit: Trainers and suitable clothing for evening activities and other sports.

    • Swimwear: A swimming costume or swimming shorts for swimming and water-based activities.

    • Towels: Towels for personal use, showering and swimming.

    • Wash kit: Toiletries and other personal essentials.

    • Sun protection: Sunscreen, a cap and sunglasses.

    Golf clubs and trolleys are available to hire for golfers who prefer not to travel with their own equipment.

    We also offer a range of RV Golf Schools branded golf clothing and casual merchandise, alongside golf accessories such as golf balls, tees, headcovers and other golfing essentials, which can be purchased as part of the camp booking process.

    Following your booking, you'll receive a comprehensive packing list with everything your child needs to make the most of their RVGS camp experience.

  • 6. Will my child need spending money?

    We recommend that golfers bring a small amount of spending money for personal purchases during their stay.

    Our camp shop offers a selection of drinks, snacks, souvenirs, golf balls and other golfing essentials. Golfers may also wish to purchase items when visiting the different golf courses, including refreshments, clothing or souvenirs.

    To help keep money safe and encourage responsible spending, RV Golf Schools operates a house bank, where golfers can securely store their money and manage their spending throughout their stay with support from our team.

    Parents can also prepay credit for the camp shop and arrange extras such as trolley hire during the booking process. This helps reduce the amount of cash golfers need to carry.

    We recommend agreeing on a suitable spending budget with your child before camp, helping them develop confidence and independence in managing their own money during their stay.

  • 7. Do I need to provide bed linen and towels?

    No, fresh bed linen is provided for all residential golfers throughout their stay at RV Golf Schools, so there is no need to bring your own bedding.

    However, golfers will need to bring their own towels for showering, personal use and any swimming activities during camp.

    A comprehensive packing list will be provided before camp, ensuring families have all the information they need to prepare for their child's stay.

Safety & Welfare

  • Your child will be looked after by the experienced RV Golf Schools team, led by PGA Professional and RVGS founder Rick Valentine.

    Rick has been organising and running junior golf camps since 2003 and has extensive experience working with young golfers of different ages, abilities and nationalities.

    Our team includes professional golf coaches and residential staff, many of whom have extensive experience in pastoral care through their work in boarding schools and educational environments. This experience provides a strong understanding of the needs of young people, particularly those spending time away from home, and helps us create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for every golfer.

    We believe that getting to know each child individually is an important part of the camp experience. Our small coaching groups and personal approach allow staff to build positive relationships with golfers, helping them feel comfortable, confident and included throughout their stay.

    Our team understands that the experience away from the golf course is just as important as the golf itself. We encourage friendships, independence and personal development while ensuring every golfer feels supported and cared for.

    Our aim is for every golfer to feel part of the RVGS community, whether they're attending for the first time or returning for another memorable summer.

  • 2. How do you ensure my child's safety and wellbeing?

    The safety and wellbeing of every golfer is of paramount importance at RV Golf Schools. We want our camps to be fun, safe and welcoming, creating the warmth, security and reassurance of a family environment while giving young golfers the opportunity to develop their independence.

    All our staff are experienced in working with children and young people, with many bringing valuable experience from boarding schools, education and pastoral care. Looking after young people comes naturally to our team, and we take great care to ensure appropriate safety measures and supervision are in place throughout the camp.

    Our camps provide a structured and supportive environment, with staff looking after golfers during coaching sessions, golf course visits, meals, evening activities and residential life.

    We recognise that every child is different, particularly when attending a residential camp away from home for the first time. Our team takes a personal approach, helping golfers settle in, build friendships and feel comfortable approaching staff whenever they need support.

    Our aim is to create an environment where every golfer feels safe, happy, included and cared for, allowing them to enjoy their golf, make new friends and grow in confidence throughout their stay.

    We also maintain open communication with parents and will always get in touch should any concerns arise regarding their child's health, safety or wellbeing.

  • At RV Golf Schools, every member of our team is there to support and look after our golfers throughout their stay.

    We want every child to feel comfortable approaching any member of staff, whether they need assistance, have a concern, are feeling homesick or simply want someone to talk to.

    Our experienced coaching and residential staff work closely together to create a welcoming, supportive environment where every golfer feels included and cared for.

    We take time to get to know each child individually, understanding their personalities, needs and interests. This personal approach is particularly important for younger golfers and those attending their first residential camp.

    We believe that creating a friendly, family-like atmosphere is an essential part of the RVGS experience, helping golfers feel at home, build confidence and develop independence while knowing that support is always available when they need it.

  • Absolutely! We understand how important it is for parents to stay in touch with their children, particularly when they're attending a residential camp away from home.

    Our golfers enjoy busy days filled with coaching, golf and activities, so we encourage families to keep in touch during the evenings wherever possible, rather than during the daytime programme.

    Evenings provide a more relaxed opportunity for golfers to catch up with family and share their experiences without interrupting their golf or activities.

    We also encourage golfers to embrace the camp experience, develop their independence and enjoy spending time with their new friends.

    Of course, if you need to contact your child urgently, you can get in touch with the RVGS team at any time, and we'll be happy to assist.

  • We understand how important it is for parents to have peace of mind while their child is attending RV Golf Schools, particularly when they're away from home.

    Before camp begins, all families will be provided with a dedicated 24-hour contact number, allowing them to reach the Camp Director at any time, day or night.

    Whether you have a question, need assistance or have an urgent concern, you can contact the Camp Director directly.

    Our aim is to ensure parents feel reassured and supported throughout their child's stay, knowing that someone is always available should they need to get in touch.

  • Your child's health and wellbeing are extremely important to us.

    If a golfer becomes unwell or suffers an injury during camp, our team will assess the situation, provide appropriate support and arrange medical assistance where necessary.

    Parents or guardians will be contacted if their child requires medical attention or if there are concerns about their wellbeing.

    Before camp, we ask families to provide relevant medical information, including any existing medical conditions, allergies, medication requirements and emergency contact details.

    This helps our team understand each golfer's individual needs and prepare appropriately for their stay.

    In the event of a medical emergency, obtaining appropriate medical assistance will always take priority.

Travel & Transfers

  • Yes, we strongly recommend that all golfers attending RV Golf Schools have comprehensive travel insurance covering the duration of their stay.

    We recommend choosing a policy that includes medical expenses, personal belongings, travel disruption, cancellation and participation in golf and other camp activities.

    For international golfers, it is particularly important to ensure that your policy provides appropriate medical cover while travelling in the UK.

    Travel insurance is not included in the camp price, and parents are responsible for arranging suitable cover before their child travels.

    We recommend purchasing insurance as soon as your camp booking is confirmed.

  • No, flights and travel to Scotland are not included in the RV Golf Schools camp price.

    Parents are responsible for arranging and paying for their child's flights or other travel to and from Scotland.

    We welcome golfers from across the UK and around the world, and our team is happy to provide guidance on suitable arrival locations and travel arrangements.

    If your child is travelling independently, we recommend contacting us before booking flights so we can discuss the most suitable arrival and departure arrangements.

  • For all 2027 camp weeks, our recommended arrival points are:

    • Edinburgh Airport for international and domestic flights.

    • Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station for golfers travelling by train.

    Complimentary arrival and return transfers cover Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station only.

    Weeks 1, 3 and 4 are based in St Andrews. Week 2 — The Open Week (10–17 July 2027) — is based at Dollar Academy.

    Please contact RV Golf Schools before booking flights or train tickets so we can help coordinate your child’s arrival and departure arrangements.

  • Yes! RV Golf Schools provides complimentary arrival and return transfers from Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station only. These transfers are included in the camp price, with no additional charge.

    On arrival, your child will be met by a member of the RVGS team wearing clearly identifiable RV Golf Schools clothing. Our staff member will be waiting at the agreed meeting point with a clearly displayed name board.

    For golfers travelling as unaccompanied minors, we can provide the name and contact details of the staff member responsible for collection, allowing parents to complete the necessary arrangements with their airline.

    Our team will accompany your child to the camp accommodation, help them settle in and introduce them to the RVGS team and fellow golfers.

    Please contact us before booking flights or train tickets so we can coordinate arrival and departure arrangements. Full transfer information and collection instructions will be provided before camp.

  • Absolutely! Parents and guardians are welcome to bring their children directly to camp and collect them at the end of their stay.

    This can be particularly convenient for families who live locally or are travelling to Scotland together.

    Before camp begins, we will provide full joining instructions, including the camp location, arrival arrangements and collection information.

    If you're planning to arrive outside the normal arrival or departure arrangements, please contact us in advance so we can discuss the options.

    We want to make the arrival and departure process as straightforward and welcoming as possible for every family.

  • We understand that international flights and travel arrangements do not always align perfectly with our camp departure dates.

    To help families with their travel plans, RV Golf Schools offers the option for golfers to stay an additional night after camp on selected dates.

    Additional nights are available as an optional extra during the booking process, where parents can view the available dates and select an extra night's accommodation if required.

    Please note that early arrivals are not available, and golfers must arrive on their scheduled camp start date.

    Additional nights are only available on the specified dates listed in our booking system and must be arranged in advance.

    If you have any questions about your child's travel arrangements, please contact us before booking flights or train tickets. Our team will be happy to help you plan a suitable arrival and departure.

  • Yes. RV Golf Schools welcomes UK and international junior golfers. Choose the experience that matches your golfer’s age, playing experience and objectives, then review the programme for your preferred week.

    Residential places include accommodation, meals, staff support and organised evening activities. Complimentary arrival and return transfers are available from Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station only.

    Please contact Rick before booking flights or train tickets so we can coordinate arrangements. If your child will use an airline’s unaccompanied-minor service, discuss this with us in advance.
