A good junior golf camp gives young people the chance to improve their game while enjoying new courses, friendships and a rewarding week away from their usual routine. The right choice depends on the golfer’s age, experience and ambitions.
Start with the golfer
Some juniors need an enjoyable introduction and age-appropriate golf. Others want more challenging courses or help understanding their performance. A camp should match that starting point rather than assume every golfer needs the same programme.
Compare the 2027 RVGS experiences
Development is designed for ages 7–11 and Ultimate for ages 10–18, with no handicap required for either. Hidden Gems is for established 18-hole golfers aged 12–18 with a handicap. Signature is for ages 14–18 with a handicap of 15 or better. Golfers can choose the experience and weeks that suit them. Residential and non-residential places are available during the St Andrews weeks; The Open Week is residential only. Each experience is limited to eight golfers per week.
Look for useful coaching and course play
Every RVGS camp includes two hours of professional group coaching each day. Coaching covers the different parts of the game and is shaped around the group’s age, ability and objectives. Golf on a variety of courses creates opportunities to apply those lessons and develop judgement. Ultimate, Hidden Gems and Signature golfers can add High Performance Coaching for individual swing and putting analysis, specialist coaching and a personal CoachNow record.
The wider experience matters
Friendship, encouragement and enjoyment help golfers feel comfortable enough to learn. A residential camp can also support confidence and independence, with young people sharing experiences beyond the golf course.
Scotland for summer 2027
The published 2027 RVGS summer programme runs from 4–31 July, with St Andrews weeks and The Open Week based at Dollar Academy. Course allocations, Championship visits and daily schedules remain subject to final confirmation. RVGS has run programmes in other destinations in the past. Earlier Florida camp articles describe previous programmes; Florida is not part of the published main summer 2027 programme.
